I am so excited to be back with another beautiful destinaton wedding to share! One of the many joys of being a Destination Wedding Photographer is traveling to romantic locations with the bride and groom, and being a wedding photographer in Tuscany is always such a treat.
Even the sun smiled on this beautiful two-day spring wedding of Annika and Matt as this German bride and English groom married under perfect weather at the prestigious Villa Medicea di Lilliano, just outside Florence, Italy. As an Italian Wedding Photographer, I absolutely love photographing weddings in my beloved country and this Tuscan Italian villa offers spectacular views over its olive fields. Tuscany is hard to beat :)
From the invitations to the bouquet, trendsetting green and blush subtly accented the scene. Annika chose a whimsical passport themed invitation to symbolize the destination wedding. On Friday, a classic and relaxed dinner took place at an Italian restaurant in the center of Florence. It was a show of culture and class as guests from around the world were able to reminisce and mingle in anticipation of the events to come.
The bride was sorrounded by such a loving tribe of women during her bridal preparation, helping her to get ready for the day to come. Annika was all smiles with such joy and anticipation! It was such a pleasure to witness. The bride and groom’s true colors were able to show in their classy and fun ensembles. The lacey monarch gown and blush and green chiffon bridesmaids dressed were from BHLDN, while the gentlemanly navy suits were from Moss Brothers. I personally loved the beautiful blue and red feather Jimmy Choo heels that perfectly complemented the dress and Annika’s fun personality.
The gorgeous day illuminated the romantic backdrops with natural light and highlighted the earthy and fanciful colors—Annika was very involved in each detail. She knew exactly what she wanted, and gracefully made it happen!
The ceremony was the epiphany of romance and charm. Annika and Matt said their vows on the historic terrace at Villa Medicea di Lilliano with a breathtaking view of Florence. Italy served as neutral ground for the diversity of the guests. Only fitting—the couple’s best friends read readings in both English and German. It was such a unique and thoughtful gesture!
Before dinner, guests enjoyed cocktail hour and canapés in the terrace while myself and the lovely bride & groom took a walk around the breathtaking grounds of Villa Medicea di Lilliano for their romantic wedding portraits at sunset. It was a fun and relaxed portrait session, the light was just perfect, and as a natural light Wedding Photographer, I couldn’t have been more thrilled :)
Having photographed other weddings at Villa Medicea di Lilliano on previous wedding seasons, I knew exactly the right backdrops to create some romantic wedding portraits for my sweet couple.
It can only be expected that dinner was accompanied by amazing food! This is one of the many perks of being a Wedding Photographer in Italy. It is much more than sights and sounds—the smells and tastes of Tuscany radiate throughout the festivities. Annika, Matt, and their guests enjoyed classical Italian food served al fresco by Golden Catering of Italy while the sun was setting over the Chianti countryside.
The bride’s colors were represented in green and peach floral table décor and the elegant menus. Of course we cannot overlook the spunky wedding cake by Sugarcups, featuring James Bond inspired toppers. Too cute!
The after party was fantastic. The sun set on a glorious day, continuing to provide perfect weather and atmosphere for the festivities. Following the wedding and sunset outdoor dinner, each person stayed late to enjoy the open bar. Not one person slipped away early! As a reflection of Annika’s love for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the couple danced to Moon River by Andy Williams. Alma Project’s Brilliant DJ Show kept the night’s energy going.
What a fantastic weekend, perfectly planned by the lovely Jill at Tuscan Wedding.
It was such a delight to be Annika and Matt’s Tuscany Wedding Photographer. They were such a lovely and fun couple, and we enjoyed catching up over dinner in London a few months after the wedding and going through their gorgeous wedding album together.
After this weekend of romantic bliss and such genuine personalities, I felt like I was a part of their crew.
