Hello again, today I’m really excited to share with you the images from a romantic and rustic wedding inspiration shoot I organised in the Marche region of Italy in May.
I have to say that I love the Marche, where I grew up – it’s so incredibly beautiful and is very similar to Tuscany but it’s as yet undiscovered and unspoiled. As a location for a destination wedding, it couldn’t be more perfect. You have the stunning Apennine mountains leading you down gorgeous valleys towards the blue waters of the Adriatic, and villages and vineyards waiting like unwrapped presents for you to find. It’s safe to say I’m smitten and I think you will be too after you’ve seen the first part of this shoot that was completely inspired by the rustic, natural beauty of this area.
Today, I’m going to be focusing on that part of the day that’s full of excitement and anticipation – the bridal preparation – and telling you a little bit more about the extraordinary team that made this organic, idyllic shoot possible…
Firstly, our venue, the stunning Urbino Resort, could have been built with weddings in mind! It’s a fantastic combination of luxury and simplicity and my goodness, it’s a destination wedding photographer’s dream! In fact, I’m sure it would be every bride’s dream too. We photographed our lovely bride in a fabulous room with windows that opened out towards the church – you couldn’t ask for a better location!
Our gorgeous bride’s suite was adorned with all manner of indulgences – truly wonderful flowers from ISA Events, heavenly boutique confectionery from Lavolio and also the artisanal, handmade perfume ‘Ariel’ by Giovanni Sammarco. It’s a heady mix of jasmine, violet, rose and osmanthus with notes of sandalwood, mandarin and ginger and hints of tobacco, davana and orris concrete. What an awe-inspiring and atmospheric backdrop to bridal preparations.
When the time came for our bride to dress, she stepped into the exquisite ‘Priscilla’ gown by Italian designer Marianna Lanzilli. Marianna describes this as a timeless design with a vintage vibe that’s perfect for the bohemian and modern bride. I love those elegant lace sleeves and the gown creates the most amazing silhouette – it’s demure and oh-so appealing all in one. It’s also Made In Italy, which makes me love it that little bit more! :)
To complete her bridal ensemble, our bride wore shoes by the superb Mascia Mandolesi and these stylish wedding shoes were designed and made right in the centre of the Marche region.
Although I sourced all the suppliers for this shoot in Italy, I couldn’t resist including the truly talented Hermione Harbutt in our number as I adore her work. Hermione suggested her ‘May Blossom Hairpins’ for our shoot and the pearl blooms, surrounded by pearl and Swarovski crystal tendrils, were just what our natural bride needed.
I couldn’t have been happier with our bride’s hair and make-up. It’s so completely perfect for this natural and romantic shoot and the team of Mirko Mazz worked their magic to create a flawless look that’s perfect for an Italian destination wedding. Just as perfect was the bride’s organic, deconstructed bouquet (again, from ISA Events) that featured peonies, sweet peas, pronged roses, lisianthus, the softest pink brooms and strong green leaves. It too couldn’t have been more fitting for such a natural look.
