Melissa and Luke’s wedding was the epitome of creativity and elegance, blending surrealism with heartfelt celebration in one of the most spectacular weddings I’ve had the pleasure to capture. After an unconventional first wedding at Burning Man in the Nevada desert, Melissa and Luke returned to the UK for a three-day celebration that was equal parts whimsical and awe-inspiring.
The venue, Aynhoe Park, was the perfect backdrop for their vision. From the outside, it appears to be a classic English country house, but inside, it’s a treasure trove of alternative interiors, featuring chandeliers, balloons, and jaw-dropping taxidermy—most famously, a giraffe held aloft by helium balloons. It set the tone for a celebration that was anything but ordinary.
The festivities began with a pre-wedding BBQ dinner that had a chic black-and-white theme. Melissa turned heads in a black-and-white Chanel trouser suit paired with a bespoke swan headdress, giving guests a taste of the avant-garde style to come.
On the wedding day, guests fully embraced the theme of "feathers, headpieces, and glitz without limits", arriving in the most extravagant and creative outfits. Melissa’s gown was a showstopper—a 17kg masterpiece created by a Turkish tailor who had been part of her family’s life for years. A custom headpiece, echoing the intricate details of her dress, completed her unforgettable look. Luke complemented her in a dashing Hugo Boss suit, while the bridesmaids wore shades of green to blend with the surreal yet natural surroundings.
The details of this wedding were as imaginative as the theme. Guests found their seats via a whisky shot seating chart and dined at tables named after personal anecdotes. Hydrangeas adorning the tables were later replanted in Melissa and Luke’s garden—a thoughtful touch that encapsulated the couple’s love of meaningful, personal details.
The first dance was a performance to remember—a medley of songs that chronicled Melissa and Luke’s journey, from their first encounter to their engagement and wedding day. It was less a dance and more a theatrical masterpiece, leaving everyone in awe.
Following two unforgettable days at Aynhoe Park, the celebrations concluded with a weekend of relaxation and rejuvenation at Soho Farmhouse, a perfect wind-down for guests after the extravaganza.
Melissa and Luke’s wedding was a triumph of imagination and love, a true testament to their vibrant personalities and unique story. It was an honor to document every surreal and spectacular moment of their incredible journey.

"Roberta is THE best!!
She delivered way beyond our expectations, capturing the emotion of the day in a way that will stay fresh in our hearts and minds forever. She instantly blended into the buzz of the atmosphere while never missing a beat.
Everything happened seamlessly, nothing was forced, each set up flowed naturally with the day, and when we weren’t looking she snapped all the love, laughter and joy that filled the room. The result is astounding!
We couldn’t be more overwhelmed with the abundance of beautiful pictures we received, enough to make a multitude of albums! We are so grateful to Roberta and really feel like we found a friend who will be there without camera to celebrate a reunion for our first anniversary… although if she brought her camera again that would be great too.
Thank you so much Roberta, thanks to you the pure happiness, love and joy of that day will live with us and all our friends and family forever".
