Hello again and, after last week’s pre-wedding photography session in Santorini, Greece, we’re back in my beloved Italy this week for a fantastic pre-wedding photoshoot among the olive trees in the beautiful region of Apulia in Southern Italy. I’m lucky enough to travel widely with my work and I loved this trip because as a wedding photographer in Apulia, you’re spoiled for choice with stunning backdrops for photos everywhere. However, for this shoot, there was a real love story behind the location we chose…
This really was a super romantic pre-wedding session and I adored every minute of it. The gorgeous couple, Iole and Umberto, have been together three years after many years as friends. This shoot was held just two days before their wedding day in Apulia & Abruzzo and I was so excited to be a wedding photographer in Italy again!
As I got to know Iole and Umberto in the run-up to their Italian wedding, I found out their story and once I knew that, there was no doubting where part of their pre-wedding session would take place. For the first part of the shoot however, we wandered around the groom’s home town, the quintessentially Italian village of Serracapriola. Just a few miles from the sea and atop a hill, it’s a truly wonderful place – the kind of town that makes you love Italy all the more!
From here, we journeyed on to a very special place – the olive field in Chieuti where the couple met. Iole owns the olive company here, Umberto would visit to buy olives and that’s where their relationship began. How romantic! The olive field is amazing – more than 5,000 ancient trees all growing together and enduring whatever the elements throw at them. It seemed to me to be a good metaphor for a long and happy marriage.
One of the joys about being an Apulia wedding photographer is the fantastic light that this region of Italy enjoys. It’s warm, soft and altogether fabulous – perfect for my natural style of photography. I couldn’t have enjoyed this pre-wedding session any more. Iole and Umberto were so happy and so in love and in fact, they had never had any photos taken together so were thrilled about having this shoot right before their wedding in Apulia and Abruzzo. It was also a perfect break for us in the build up to the wedding to get to know each other a little more. Engagements and pre-wedding sessions are the best way to get to know each others before your Wedding Day. As a destination wedding photographer; I promise you that weddings in Italy really are something special.
