Hello again – I’m back for this week’s feature and my goodness, it’s a good one! I hope you’re ready for a big dose of loved up happiness because this destination love shoot, in the amazing Norwegian town of Bergen, is full of romance.

 

As you might have picked up by now, I just adore travelling.  I’m lucky enough to be able to travel so much in Europe and further afield both for work and pleasure and it’s true to say that every journey and every location inspires me. Bergen, sitting on the southwest coast of beautiful Norway is a stunning location. Mountains and fjords surround it and the coloured wooden houses that line the shore are outstandingly beautiful.

 

After photographing Inger Marie & Olav’s intimate Norwegian Wedding in Bergen, I was there to photograph Tonje and Kjetil!  This shoot was a first for them as in all the time they’ve been together, they’ve never yet had a photo taken of the two of them! I’m passionate about using photography to capture special relationships and moments in our lives so I was thrilled to be able to organise this destination love session for Tonje and Kjetil.

 

And what a fantastic couple they are. After meeting at a party as a friend’s house over three years ago, they’ve been together ever since and I was so happy to hear that Kjetil surprised Tonje with a canvas from our shoot for her birthday, just a few days after these images were taken. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to have been a part of this special occasion!

 

As you can see from the images, they are one of the loveliest couples I’ve ever had the privilege of working with. Sweet, charming and just a little bit shy, we had a lot of fun together.

 

However, we were a little bit concerned that their couple’s shoot wouldn’t be without drama thanks to the famous Bergen weather. It’s a super rainy town and there was a huge storm on the day before the shoot. It also started raining before and during our session but, we hid under a beautiful tree with wonderful pink flowers by Little Lungegårdsvann and we couldn’t have chosen a better spot to avoid those raindrops.

 

That delightful tree also provided the backdrop for one of my favourite moments of the whole shoot. Tonje is a dance teacher and ballerina and they finished their shoot, dancing in the rain, with that gorgeous pink petalled tree behind them. I really adore natural, spontaneous portraits and these really are something special.

 

The weather gods might not have smiled on our couple’s shoot in Bergen but my goodness, we didn’t stop smiling, despite the rain!
