Welcome back to the blog! I’m back with an exciting story about a recent time when I got to be a celebrity wedding photographer for none other than Josh Kelly—Olympian and WBA International welterweight champion. The wedding was strewn with stars like Josh’s mentor and British boxing legend, Frank Bruno.
It was a pleasure to work with the bride Remy Smith in capturing her preparation at One Whitehall Place, the Royal Horseguard Hotel, in central London. Bridesmaids and family members joined in the readiness in the magnificent hotel overlooking the Thames River. This is truly the view from every iconic London photograph, and the ideal location to get ready for a luxury London wedding day. It was such fun capturing Josh and his men posing around the white Rolls Royce that would later deliver his bride to the church for the ceremony.
In all, there were 165 guests. Each of Remy and Josh’s family and friends looked divine. It was such a stylish wedding in London! The gorgeous blush and white flowers were from the talented All for Love London.
The bride wore a stunning Galia Lahav gown and long veil—this is one of my most FAVORITE designers. Luckily for me, many of my brides choose Galia Lahav for their day. She also wore lovely heels from Jimmy Choo. Remy was pampered by makeup artist Polly Marchant and celebrity hair stylist Jack Luckhurst
Josh and his groomsmen were at Champneys Tring, in Hertfordshire for preparations. I simply LOVED the groom in white with his Tom Ford suit. It was no surprise to learn that he had a previous modelling career before becoming so well known as an Olympian.
Remy’s heart was set on a church wedding surrounded by family and friends. It was a treasure to see her dreams come true in the exclusive Church in Mayfair, the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception. It is one of the most spectacular churches in all of London—a dream location for a London luxury wedding photographer.
After the emotional ceremony, we took some family portraits outside the church. A public relations company from Hello! Magazine was on hand, as some celebrities attended the wedding including: David Seaman, former English goalkeeper with his wife Frankie (Dancing on Ice), Frank Bruno, Ashley and Dawn Ward, Harlem Eubank and further footballers and boxers.
Next, we took wedding portraits in Mayfair while the guests returned to the hotel with the hired red London busses. You can’t have a wedding in London without getting your photo on an iconic double-decker bus! Finally, we returned to One Whitehall Place, the Royal Horseguard Hotel for drinks and canapés and more family portraits in the garden. This is the moment when we took their sweetest family portrait with their little one, JJ, of 9 months. This photo of this darling trio is the reason I love being a London Wedding Photographer: I get to help capture these moments so that last forever.
The wedding reception was breathtaking, with luxurious flowers and a flower arch around the top wedding table. The dinner was wonderful and laced with touching speeches. The guests were also entertained with a magician! Each detail was elegant and impressive. The ambience of the beautiful reception was classy sophistication with a healthy touch of down-to-earth. Truly a lovely host of family and friends gathered in celebration of Remy and Josh.
While everyone moved to the dance floor, the bride changed her hairstyle and shortly came back for their amazing cake cutting. Then, it was time for the timeless first dance as husband and wife. They danced to “Always Remember Us This Way” from the A Star Is Born soundtrack. They then danced all night long and enjoyed every moment surrounded by family and friends of all ages.
Remy and Josh’s wedding was a London dream and it was great working alongside HD Moments.
