Well, today I have such a treat for you as we’re off to an intimate wedding in Italy in Le Marche, one of my favourite regions. This is a destination wedding in every sense of the word – the gorgeous couple is from Finland and I too packed my bags and left London to be a wedding photographer in Italy once again. As you’ll see below, this was a beautiful Italian wedding and I didn’t stop smiling!
Jussi and Sara first met nine years ago at their local ice rink in Finland through mutual friends. Jussi used to be an ice hockey player and Sara was an ice skater so as you can imagine, they certainly had a lot in common! After a few months of happy dating, Sara left for the US and a year as an exchange student but this upheaval was by no means the end of their relationship.
In November 2009, they moved in together and in summer 2013, after a long day at work, Jussi filled their balcony with candles and roses and proposed after a super romantic dinner.
The couple chose the spectacular Villa Lattanzi in Le Marche, Italy for their wedding and this luxurious hotel boasts the most amazing sea view (I’ll actually be back at Villa Lattanzi in September when I’m once again going to be working as wedding photographer in Italy!).
Jussi and Sara wanted to host a really joyous celebration for the forty-five guests that travelled to Italy from Finland to share the occasion with them. They created a fun and relaxed atmosphere without any stress at all but still managed to include a few traditional elements such as the wedding waltz. It was a perfect day.
The bridal prep photos in Villa Lattanzi were a joy to take and the wonderful rooms were just ideal for my style of natural light photography. If you are looking for some tips on the perfect bridal preparation photography, I’m giving some advice on my series: ‘Advice for the Romantic Bride‘.
Sara wore a dress by a Finnish designer whilst her fabulous shoes were from the iconic Jimmy Choo.
The couple’s ceremony was held in the small chapel in the hotel and I have to say that Jussi looked fantastic in his Sartoria Rossi suit. I also loved the blue bridesmaid dresses and their chic and elegant hair and make-up suited this sophisticated Italian destination wedding.
I just love capturing the couple after the ceremony is over and the grounds of Villa Lattanzi are the ideal spot – the couple can escape for some time on their own and I love being able to indulge in some soft, romantic photography! As a wedding photography in Italy, I know I’m spoiled with such outstanding locations but these gardens really were something special.
The dinner, also held in the gardens at Villa Lattanzi was just as Sara and Jussi hoped it would be – relaxed, enjoyable, intimate and really memorable for them and their guests. The wedding feast was full of regional delicacies, the speeches were that brilliant mix of humorous yet moving and as the sun went down on this delightful intimate wedding in Italy, this Italian wedding photographer left friends and family enjoying the celebrations.
I hope that you’ve enjoyed this wedding in Italy as much as I enjoyed photographing it.
